Endangered species of the week–a reminder
post on Treehugger that shows photos of 10 species we’ve already lost. Add to this list the passenger pigeon, the dodo, and the carolina parakeet (Audobon drawing from Cornell University website) and we’re just scratching the surface of biodiversity lost (remember, scientists estimate our current rate of species loss per year is well over 10,000 per year vs. an expected natural rate of 10 to 100 per year (see PBS and Science Daily articles for more info)). As I always ask in this post, “who gives a flying flit?” I do, and I hope you do too.
